Welcome to North 40 Lodge – Your Home in the Heart of the Mountains

Nestled along Georgia’s historic Moonshine Highway, where the rhythm of the mountains meets the melody of the forests, North 40 Lodge is more than a place to stay—it’s a place to belong. For the past 18 years, we’ve welcomed travelers, adventurers, and dreamers to our little haven, offering the perfect blend of rustic charm, modern comfort, and heartfelt hospitality.

Our lodge is intimate and inviting, with four cozy rooms and a delightful log cabin, each thoughtfully designed with handcrafted furniture, electric fireplaces, and all the comforts of home. Whether you’re relaxing in Theda Mae’s Sunflower Suite, lounging on the porch of Ole Snort’s Shanty, or finding peace in the charm of our log cabin, you’ll feel like you’ve discovered your own private retreat. And for our furry friends? We’ve made sure a few rooms are pet-friendly too—because adventures are better with your best companion by your side.

Outside, the magic of North Georgia surrounds you. Sip your morning coffee on our sunny patio, or snuggle up by the fireplace in our screened-in porch on cool mountain evenings. With over six private acres to explore, there’s always a quiet corner to enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors.

But the magic doesn’t stop here. Just half a mile away lies Lake Burton—the cleanest lake in Georgia—where crystal-clear waters invite you to swim, fish, paddle, or simply soak in the serenity. For the hiking enthusiast, countless trails wind through lush forests to breathtaking waterfalls and picnic-perfect vistas. Nearby towns like Alpine Helen and Clarkesville offer their own treasures, from charming boutiques to wineries and local eateries. No matter the season, there’s always something new to discover.

Nice place to stay and to eat. Nice and quiet place full of charming people. Its owners, are just lovely. Perfect to stay and visit the north of Georgia and the lakes. Its tavern is also a good place to eat. They serve good food, with good music, and all surrouded by a good mood.

Great rooms and fantastic restaurant! Located at Lake Burton, Ga between Clayton, Helen and Clarksville. Very nice rooms and the Tavern and Grill is fantastic. A limited menu and hours but a 5 out of 5! Best steak burger ever! Karaoke some nights on the back covered deck.

Surprised by Romance Our first time to visit North 40 Tavern. Very quaint and cozy. Food was outstanding and service was warm, professional, and attentive. Pizza was one of the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back again and try a new entree. Ask for Cathy as your waitress- you won’t be disappointed.

Dinner was so great we ate here 2 nights in a row! Our family of 6 enjoyed dinner at North 40 so much we came back again the next night! The food was all freshly prepared and the service was outstanding. The highlights for family was the pizza and the homemade dessert. But truly, everything was wonderful! We will be back! Great price for great food 😀

Great get away Rooms were very clean prices were great and the restaurant was some of the best food we have ever eaten we look forward to staying there again many more times all the employees bent over backwards to help us

Unique place nestled in NE Georgia Bobby and Ginger are great Hosts and there place is very nicely decorated and so close to all kinds of outdoor activities. Coming soon will be a quite tavern and Grill real close. Go visit you will feel like you have known them forever.

Wish we were still there! Wonderful! We just got back home today and I couldn't wait to write a review for this wonderful lodge! We rented the entire lodge for a wedding at the LaPrades which was 5 minutes away from the lodge. We stayed in the Living Quarters and it was so warm and comfortable and our bed was incredible. We highly recommend the lodge....

Perfect north Georgia getaway I love this place. Year round, it's awesome. Bobby and Ginger are the perfect hosts, and we love being surrounded by the mountains, but close to so many great shops and galleries for rainy day activities. Helen is close by, too.

Cancellation Policy: If you cancel 10 days before the reservation date, we charge a $35.00 cancelation fee but if you cancel less than 10 days before the reservation date, we will not refund any money but will give you one year to rebook and use your reservation. We are a small Lodge and cannot guarantee to rebook if you have to cancel.
